A Ted Williams glove turned a young Rick Lorenz into a baseball memorabilia collector.
Rick Lorenz has more tenure than most high school volleyball coaches in the state of Oregon. Over three decades of experience–and counting.
He loves baseball just as much, though. Getting a special glove as an elementary school kid in the 1950s put his passion for the game into high gear. Over 50 years later, he’s amassed a huge collection of baseball cards worth well into six figures.
“Half the time I don’t remember what I’ve got, but it’s been a real passion of mine,” he told the Portland Tribune, which featured his collection this week.
Lorenz is a man of many interests, actually. In fact, it’s his stained glass artwork which helps pay for his addiction to old cardboard.
