Who is among the biggest individual contributors in the nation’s Toys for Tots campaign?
A guy running a sports card show in the suburbs.
Last December, we featured Doug Reid, who hosts a December sports card and memorabilia show in Gwinnett, Georgia.
The show is a fund-raiser for Toys for Tots, with Reid giving up his proceeds from what’s become a big autograph session so he can bring some smiles to kids faces this Christmas.
The show continues to grow and this year is it’s 10th anniversary. Collectors get free autographs from athletes in exchange for the donation of a new toy and the chance to buy cards from a wide variety of dealers from the region.
If you’re wondering if card shows are dead, this one, profiled in the Gwinnett Daily Post, is proof that when done right, they’re not only alive, they’re part of a community.
