The oldest Dodger and oldest Cardinal will talk baseball anytime…when they’re not answering fan mail.
The torch of oldest living baseball player has now been passed to Tony Malinosky, who celebrated his 100th birthday this week.
His time with the Brooklyn Dodgers was short, but he still has plenty of memories. The current regime in L.A. recently honored him and fans have found items to send his way, hoping for an autograph.
Not far from Malinosky’s southern California home resides Don Lang, the oldest living St. Louis Cardinal. Lang is 94, and an avid follower of the game.
“Some of the best years of my life,” Lang says from his bed at the Los Robles Care Center in Ojai. “I hate thinking I’ve been away from baseball this long, but you just have to accept it.”
As the two franchises square off in this year’s Division Series, the Ventura County Star caught up with both men.
