The number of old Yankee Stadium seats for sale ain’t what it used to be.
As part of the demolition of “The House That Ruth Built,” following its closure after the 2008 season, nearly all 56,000 seats from the stadium are gone, according to Steiner Sports, which has now put the remaining seats up for sale.
The company partnered with the team to market memorabilia from the ballpark that was demolished as the Yankees moved into their new digs next door. Steiner has been selling bricks, stadium dirt, foul poles, clubhouse lockers, bases and even the famous white scalloped frieze that hung from the upper deck of the old stadium, which was built in 1923 and renovated in the mid-1970s.
The remaining seats include a pair of bleacher seats for $299.99; a commemorative seat that includes authentic seat backs and bottoms with new commemorative arms for $499.99 and in original pairs for $899.99.
The seats come with a letter of authenticity via the Yankees-Steiner partnership.
