Collectors who want a Topps flagship-style card of Shohei Ohtani in an Angels uniform or Giancarlo Stanton in Yankee pinstripes won’t have to wait much longer. Topps has announced the checklists for its annual pre-packaged team sets and both players are included…albeit with some graphic wizardry making it happen.
The 17-card sets are typically distributed in the home market areas of each specific team but can also be purchased online. They’re slated to be released on February 28.
While Topps Series One rarely includes players who changed teams or arrived in the majors during the winter, the factory team sets are a different product with cards that often include some photographs not found in the first series. With a distribution date early in spring training, however, not many offseason transactions are reflected.
Each set has 17 cards and there are National and American League “Stars” sets in addition to the 30 team sets.
