The NCAA Tournament kept some folks at home over the weekend, but collectors got out to card shows early to make it back in time to catch most of the action.
Safe to say the turnout at the Northeast Sports Card Expo at the Marriott in Quincy, MA, was pretty good.
Promoters say close to 4,000 people attended the show over its two-day run.
Not bad considering this was only the second event at the venue. The show launched with a one-day affair last October.
The show had 100 vendors and 175 tables.
Autograph guests included former Red Sox players Jeff Reardon, Oil Can Boyd, & Nick Esasky, former New England Patriots players Scott Zolak & Jermaine Wiggins, former Boston Bruins players Bobby Carpenter & Kevin Stevens, WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana, and Impact Wrestling Knockout wrestler Alisha Edwards.
Other autograph guests included Doug “The Thug” Smith, Peter “The Hurricane” McNeeley and former NHL player Bobby Sheehan.
The next show in Quincy is set for Nov. 18-19 and promoters will also take the show on the road to Portland, ME on Sept. 23 and 24. That event is scheduled for the Portland Exposition Building.

Floyd Mayweather was a no show for his scheduled autograph session at the Chicago Sports Spectacular. Promoters say he gave no reason but the former boxing champ posted on social media that he was in Dubai.
Among the dozens who did appear—Barry Sanders, Bobby Orr, Rick Barry and Julius Erving.
