Bidding for the “All-Star Café” Wagner is off to a strong start.
The card, with its wild background story, had reached $1.8 million by the beginning of the week, with the auction set to run through March 27.
Graded PSA 1, the card is being offered by Mile High Card Company, which also has the T206 Doyle variation (currently $328,373) and Eddie Plank in the same auction along with a Babe Ruth rookie card.
The $1.8 million high bid has already passed the final selling price for the last PSA 1 Wagner sold at auction, one that brought just shy of $1.4 million in November 2020. A PSA 1.5 sold for $2.28 million via Heritage Auctions in May of 2021.

Not one but two PSA 10 Moses Malone rookie cards blew past existing records on Sunday–both in the same auction. One sold for $102,000 while the other netted $96,000. Both sold through PWCC.
Malone’s rookie card is notoriously difficult to find in high grade. PSA 10 populations are in the double digits as the print quality of the set is known for technical issues.
According to public data, the previous record high was $19,200.
PSA has graded 36 Malone rookies as Gem Mint 10s.
Malone is the only NBA player to win back-to-back MVP awards for two different teams. He’s likely best known for the second of those MVP years when he also won the Finals MVP award on route to an NBA championship with the 76ers in the 1982-83 season. His rookie card pictures him as a teenager with the ABA’s Utah Stars.
