To say Leo Ullman is a Nolan Ryan collector is like saying Joey Chesnutt eats a few hot dogs once in a while. The octogenarian from New York has over 13,500 Ryan items in his stash, including over 8,500 cards (1,250 of which are signed).
MLB TV’s Carded recently paid a visit to his home to check out the collection and how it came to be (be sure to watch the video at the top).
MLB.com writer Nathan Maciborski offers a tour of some of the history behind several of the best Babe Ruth items on display at the New York Yankees Museum.
The Financial Times is the latest to go inside the boom of the sports trading card market.
That didn’t take long.
Pro Football Hall of Fame visitors can now see the No. 9 white jersey, black pants and socks Justin Tucker wore when he kicked a record 66-yard field goal as time expired in the Baltimore Ravens’ dramatic 19-17 victory over the Detroit Lions last Sunday.
The kick, which bounced off the crossbar and over it, added two yards to the previous record set by Matt Prater in 2013.
Tucker has indicated he also will send his kicking shoe to Canton later this season – once he is able to break in a new one.
Tucker has made all 16 field goals attempted in the final minute of regulation in his 147 career games over 10 NFL seasons.
