Trading card and autograph service revenues at Collector’s Universe, the parent company of PSA and PSA/DNA, increased by $1 million, or 23%, in this year’s third quarter and $2.2 million, or 17% over the last nine months, representing record revenues. At the close of Q3, PSA’s total revenue was approximately $15.2 million for the fiscal year versus $13 million during the same period a year ago.
Company President Joe Orlando told a conference call for shareholders this week that strong demand has the company working on “expanding operational capacity to handle this surging business.
“We are committed to increasing output using a combination of new hires, cross training additional shifts and technology, to improve efficiency.”
Topps announced a new group of NOW cards on Wednesday including one that will raise money for a cause close to the player’s heart.
Stephen Piscotty, who lost his mother Gretchen to ALS recently, received a standing ovation from fans upon his first appearance back in the Oakland A’s lineup on Tuesday night. The emotional moment was captured on a card which Topps is offering as part of its daily group of highlights and milestones. Proceeds from sales of the card will benefit the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
James Paxton’s no-hitter was also featured in Wednesday’s batch of NOW cards.
The cards cost $9.99 (less in quantity) and can be ordered here through mid-day Thursday.
Topps also released three more cards in its Living Set, including one of Ichiro.
A few of Chicago Bears rookie Roquan Smith’s stolen University of Georgia jerseys and a game-used helmet have been recovered by law enforcement officers.
The Athens-Clarke Police Department says fingerprints taken from the car parked inside his apartment complex garage led to a suspect. Smith reported the break-in to police last week.
Jerseys from the Rose Bowl and the National Championship game were among those recovered. Several other items belonging to the former Bulldogs’ linebacker were also recovered.
Smith posted a video on Twitter, thanking officers, media and fans for getting the information out to the general public.
