A special auction being held in conjunction with the National Sports Collectors Convention will benefit military veterans and their families. The NSCC has partnered with Signatures for Soldiers, a charity that helps raise money for Military Missions in Action, which helps disabled veterans and disabled children of active military personnel.
The National is offering on-site exhibitor space to Signatures for Soldiers, which sells autographs and other memorabilia for sale to collectors with all proceeds going to Military Missions in Action. TriStar Productions, which operates the autograph pavilion at the National, will continue its efforts to help Signatures for Soldiers during the show.

Shows are popping up all over the country and drawing some pretty sizeable crowds. Many areas that haven’t seen a show in years are getting them as promoters take advantage of the renewed interest. In Grand Forks, ND, both vintage and modern card collectors came out to a new event.
Among the bigger events was the Bay Area Sports Cards & Collectible Expo in Fairfield, CA (that’s Jose Canseco signing autographs), which took place Saturday and Sunday. Here’s a snippet of one show-goer’s video:

In Hazard, KY, you can even talk about cards and buy them at a local heating and air conditioning place.
