Collectors at the 2023 National Sports Collectors Convention continue to stream into both sides of the mammoth show and the action doesn’t seem to stop. Friday brought another massive crowd.
The show is expected to surpass the 1991 Anaheim National as the biggest card show ever held with crowds likely exceeding 100,000.
Temperatures in the building can be uncomfortable when thousands of people are in the facility by early afternoon. More fans were seen in the convention center but it’s still plenty warm.
The weather in Rosemont are expected to be cooler on Saturday and Sunday.

National dealers are voting on the site of the 2026 show while attending the ’23 event here in Chicago after hearing pitches from the three candidates: Atlantic City, Atlanta and Chicago.
As part of their recent presentation to dealers, convention officials in AC promised to pay $1,000 toward the cost of each dealer’s booth rental. That’s quite an incentive, especially for east coast dealers who might have already been considering casting a ballot for the New Jersey shore location, but it’s also an indicator that AC likely believes it would be the underdog without making such an offer.
Atlantic City most recently hosted the National in 2022 and was also the home of the show in 2016. It’s not a favorite of many collectors and exhibitors from outside the area for a variety of reasons.
