A Tennessee man is in jail on burglary and vandalism charges after police say he stole more than $20,000 worth of autographed sports jerseys from a local hobby shop.
Cody Denning, 32, of Knoxville is accused of throwing a rock through the front window of Underdog Collectibles in Knoxville on May 18. According to area media outlets, police reports say Denning is seen entering the store twice in the early morning hours, stealing jerseys from the shop each time.
The shop indicated in a social media post that Denning and a woman had entered the store at 8:50 PM the night before, looking at the jerseys. Court documents indicate Denning told the woman he would be coming back for them. They also stated he tried to sell two of the stolen jerseys to another store located in a Knoxville area mall.
Denning was arrested over the weekend and is currently housed in the Knox County Jail.
In addition to the burglary case, he’s also facing a DUI charge.

After a busy last several months that put it behind schedule, SGC says its turnaround times are back to within the 5-10 business day range.
The company graded nearly 340,000 cards between April and May but SGC President Peter Steinberg says they’ve increased their ability to handle the larger demand.
Earlier this year, SGC was purchased by Collectors, parent company of PSA. In a video released Tuesday, Steinberg thanked Collectors “for providing any and all resources needed to help SGC scale up, catch up and become even stronger moving forward.”
SGC also announced a $12 across the board special for basketball cards and will again offer a $9 deal on Topps Series 2 sometime after release.
