It’s part of a new book, but collectors finally got a chance to see cards from one of the world’s top high-end baseball card collections during last week’s National Sports Collectors Convention.
The “D-Backs Collection” is owned by Ken Kendrick, managing general partner of the Arizona Diamondbacks and a long-time avid collector.
He talked about how it came to be and why it’s unlikely to be sold.

Candy Digital has a new multi-year deal with Cal Ripken Jr.
The new partnership provides Candy Digital with exclusive access and official rights to create digital collectibles showcasing iconic moments from Ripken’s career, as well as memorabilia from his extensive personal collection.
Ripken will be intimately involved in the curation of each digital collectible introduced, working with Candy Digital’s artists and designers to record custom audio narration that will accompany select moments.
It’s the first collection to debut as part of Candy Digital’s Baseball Legends Series. The Cal Ripken Jr. Rookie Collection will be available on Candy Digital’s primary marketplace beginning August 23. It will arrive in five different rarity tiers, the two highest of which will include a physical piece of memorabilia signed by Ripken.

With three days remaining in SCP Auctions’ Lakers Rings For Ukraine Relief Auction, bidding on each of former Laker Slava Medvedenko’s two championship rings has neared $60,000. Medvedenko’s 2001 and 2002 rings each have a current bid of $59,628, with the auction closing Friday, August 5.
SCP Auctions will be giving the entire final sale price of both rings to Medvedenko’s Fly High Foundation. Fly High’s goal is to support Ukrainian kids by restoring the sports infrastructure of the country’s schools and launching a network of social sports clubs.

A jersey worn by Cade Cunningham in his NBA debut last fall is on the block through NBA Auctions. Cunningham donned the blue Pistons jersey in the second half of the Pistons’ 110-103 victory over the Orlando Magic on October 30.
Several other rookie debut jerseys are also on the block.
Bidding ends Thursday night.

Goal pucks from Sidney Crosby and Cale Makar are among 50 up for grabs in MeiGray’s latest auction.
The Crosby puck is from a game on May 4 of last season that resulted in his 484th career tally. The Makar puck is from a first round playoff game in what turned out to be a Stanley Cup championship run for the Colorado Avalanche.
Several pucks from other playoff games are among those up for grabs through August 18 on the MeiGray Auctions website.
