A PSA 10 1993 Upper Deck SP Derek Jeter rookie card is on the auction block and has already set a new record for the grade, sitting at $66,200 with the auction not set to conclude until mid-week.
The SP Jeter has become the future Hall of Famer’s most popular—and pricey– rookie card and ranks is among the most valuable cards of a modern era in high-grade.
There are only 22 Jeter rookie cards rated 10 on PSA’s Population Report (out of 13,642 examples graded over the past 25 years of professional grading).
In the past two years, only three Jeter PSA 10s have been auctioned off with an average value of $47,000.
The card is currently the most watched auction on eBay. You can follow the bidding here.
A few weeks from now, Mile High Card Company will be presenting what it says is the “most spectacular auction in the company’s history.” For now, though, they’re serving up an appetizer.
The company’s Extra Innings auction runs through Wednesday with 451 lots of lower cost material on the block.
Featured in the current auction is a 1933 Goudey #53 Babe Ruth PSA 4 VG/EX, a 1933 Sport Kings #6 Jim Thorpe PSA 7 NM, a 1948 Leaf #79 Jackie Robinson rookie PSA 3 VG, a 1953 Bowman Color #33 Pee Wee Reese PSA 8 NM/MT, a 1953 Topps Near-Complete Set (270/274, a 1965 Topps Football set and a large assortment of Mickey Mantle cards.

What do case breakers do when they want more product from the card companies but can’t get it? They open up a physical shop.
The duo behind Live Case Break recently did just that in Canton, New York.
The shop is separated into two areas; one in the back with three computers and multiple cameras for their online breaks and the other offering customers the chance to buy cards and other memorabilia the traditional way.
The local newspaper wrote about the venture.

A University of Georgia student has been charged in connection with the theft of Bears’ rookie Roquan Smith’s game-worn jerseys and helmets. Landyn Shane Durham, 20, posted $22,000 bond after being charged with two felony counts.
He was released on Friday, according to this story in the Chicago Tribune.
No court date has been set yet.
