Fanatics recently hired a new CEO for its Fanatics Live brand, which will pivot to become a live event site for collectibles. Case and box breaks are expected to be at the center of it for the company that bought Topps early last year and will eventually take over the rights to produce cards for the NFL and NBA, among other licenses.
“I think the collectibles space has enormous upside,” Rubin claimed on the Full Send podcast. “This business has never been marketed. There’s never been any product innovation. To every collector out there, the 12-month cycle we’re in right now, we will do more for this industry than has been done in the last seven years. We are going to aggressively market this industry. We are aggressively going to innovate this industry. I’m so bullish on it because (until now) this business has done great by accident.”

One of the 99 2020 National Treasures Rookie Patch Autograph cards of the Eagles’ QB—this one graded PSA 10—sold for a record $34,800 at Goldin. In September of 2021, it had sold for $10,742—an increase of nearly 224 percent according to Card Ladder.

The card show scene in Southern California is picking up, thanks in large part to Burbank Sports Cards. The company held its second show over the weekend at the Ontario Convention Center. Big crowds turned out for the three-day event.

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun watched from afar as a devastating earthquake left thousands homeless in his native Turkey. Now, the 20-year-old is coordinating an auction to help victims.
Jerseys worn by Sengun, Jaylen Green and Jabari Smith Jr., another signed by Hall of Famer Hakeem Olajuwon and a game experience package are being offered.
All proceeds will go to Ahbap, a Turkish organization that is working in the earthquake torn areas to help families with food, water and basic needs.
