They lost the game, but some good is coming out of the Golden State Warriors’ November 18 loss at San Antonio. The jerseys worn by the defending NBA champs were recently sold to help victims of the wildfire in Northern California earlier this fall.
Eight jerseys were sold in a special event at NBA Auctions, topped by a $14,020 winning bid for the jersey worn by Kevin Durant. An injury kept Steph Curry out of the lineup that night but his autographed game-issued jersey still sold for over $7,500. Klay Thompson’s signed gamer netted over $5,000.
All proceeds from the Camp Fire Evacuation Relief Fund Jersey Auction will directly support the North Valley Community Foundation and the fire relief efforts.
A jersey worn during the first few years of Mickey Mantle’s career is on the block. Grey Flannel is offering a jersey donned by Mantle during the 1953 World Series and during part of the 1954 season, according to a review by MEARS.
It’s the headliner in a sale that features over 800 items.
The current bid stands at over $50,000 with the auction set to run through December 19.
PSA’s New Jersey office has once again partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Center’s “Toys for Tots” program.
On Friday, December 14, the company’s Woodbridge, New Jersey location is offering a “Toys for Tots” autograph authentication special where collectors who bring in one new, unopened and unwrapped toy for donation will receive 50% off authentication fees for signers who are regularly $49 or less. Up to 15 autographed items can be applied to the promotion per order/donation. Autographs will be reviewed on-site form 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM EST. Letters of Authenticity will be issued by mail within approximately two weeks.
“This is just a great way for us to give something back to the community,” said Sean Skeffington, PSA’s New Jersey Office business manager, “and it allows us to partner with a great organization like the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.”
Once all the toys have been collected, PSA officials will drop them off at a final distribution location designated by the Marine Corps.
PSA’s Woodbridge, N.J., office is located at 10 Woodbridge Center Drive, Suite 701.
Toys for Tots is a program run by the U.S.M.C. Reserve which distributes toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. The program was founded in 1947 by reservist Major Bill Hendricks. To date, 548 million toys have been distributed.
