Some strong prices for important tickets and stubs went on the books as Goldin closed out its Holiday Auction Sunday night. The company sold over $500,000 worth in all. Among the highlights:

A 1958 World Cup Sweden ticket stub from Pele’s debut game on 6/15/1958 (PSA PR 1 MK) sold for $36,000, an all-time record for any soccer ticket.

A 2001 New England Patriots vs New York Jets Sept. 23, 2001 Tom Brady signed full ticket (BGS Auto 10) carrying an inscription from Brady sold for a record $44,400.

A 1977 Diego Maradona full Argentina ticket stub from international debut game on 2/27/1977 vs. Hungary (PSA GOOD 2) sold for $33,720, a record for any Diego Maradona ticket.

A 1989 ticket stub for Ken Griffey Jr.’s MLB debut for the MLB Opening Night game of the Seattle Mariners at Oakland A’s (PSA FR 1.5) sold for $20,400, the most ever paid for a Griffey Jr. first game ticket.

A 1992 David Beckham senior debut ticket stub at Manchester United vs Brighton On 9/23/1992 (PSA PR 1) sold for $15,027, a record for a Beckham ticket.

A 2003 Portugal International Friendly full ticket from Cristiano Ronaldo’s Debut Game vs. Kazakhstan (PSA NM-MT 8) sold for $9,066, also a record for that ticket.
- A low grade ticket to Bo Jackson’s November 1987 NFL debut went for $8,6400, a record for any Bo Jackson ticket.
The two-day auction saw over $27 million in total sales with a record 64,000 unique bids placed.
Upper Deck is utilizing its most famous exclusive athletes for a new line of cards. 2022 UD Superstars is being sold through the company’s ePack platform and include cards of Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, LeBron James and others.
UD Superstars will be available throughout 2022, with each card available for one week. UD Superstars pays tribute to the original Upper Deck Superstars product design, marking its 20-year anniversary from when the product first debuted on shelves in 2002.
Upper Deck can use the athletes’ names and images but for players like Jordan and James, they won’t be able to show team logos or names.
“With the popularity of multi-sport products like Goodwin Champions, we’re thrilled to celebrate superstars and iconic athletes in a new way that recognizes each athlete’s major career accomplishments,” said Upper Deck’s Sports Brand Manager, Paul Zickler.
Each new card within the set will release at 9am PST on select Fridays throughout 2022.
A six-card set titled Monumental Moments will be available as an added achievement for those who collect the entire set.
National Sports Collectors Convention promoters say about 75 percent of the 1,000 Super VIP passes have been sold for this summer’s show in Atlantic City.
Panini America has signed on as the first trading card sponsor of the MINT Collective in Las Vegas.
Burbank Sports Cards has now sold over 5 million cards on eBay. Last summer, the Southern California-based company jumped into the world’s top ten biggest sellers on the platform.
Live stream shopping platform Whatnot, has partnered with MMA fighter Jorge Masvidal, who will go live weekly to auction off UFC and other sports cards, and his own collection of merchandise.
Masvidal plans to use his BRKRZ channel to auction off limited edition items from his own personal collection and “give fans the inside look at the life of the UFC’s BMF titleholder, auctioning items live before and after fights, or as he travels from city to city,” according to Whatnot.
