Baseball Card Exchange is getting into the auction business. The company says it will launch the new platform this fall, with a specific announcement coming during the National Sports Collectors Convention.
Auctions will last for approximately two weeks and end on Sunday evenings. The inaugural event will include authenticated unopened boxes, graded vintage packs, cases, and high-end graded cards, valued at $200 or more.
They’ll start accepting additional consignments in the coming weeks.
One selling point highlighted in the announcement was a consignor guarantee that states no duplication of specific items in the same auction.
BBCE Auctions will discount unopened box and rack pack authentication rates to consigners. Discounted authentication rates for consigners will also be revealed in the coming weeks.
They’re rare–but they’re out there.
Topps has packed some boxes of the newly released 2023 Finest Baseball with nothing but sparkly gold mini parallels numbered to 50. The “Treasure Chest” boxes are starting to pop up in online breaks and hobby shops. The boxes still contain two autographs, but those two are of the gold mini variety.
It was an unannounced move by Topps but not the first time since the Fanatics takeover that they’ve seeded valuable “hot boxes” in with the rest of the overall supply.
You can see one of the Treasure Chest boxes revealed in this break.
Finest boxes are currently selling for around $225.
Memory Lane is once again bringing some heavy lumber to the National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago.
Those who stop by the company’s booth from 11 AM to 1 PM Thursday through Sunday can hold a 1922 Babe Ruth bat and take a picture with it. They’ve held similar interactive events in the past with bats from Ruth and Lou Gehrig.
The company will also have items from its upcoming auction on display.
Not everyone’s going to the National. In fact, some promoters are holding their own shows for collectors who don’t want to travel far.
One such inaugural event takes place Saturday, July 29 in southern Indiana.
