Panini America has signed R.J. Barrett to a card and autograph deal. The former Duke star is expected to be among the first few picks in the upcoming NBA Draft.
Barrett’s first officially licensed trading cards and autographs will drop this summer in Panini America’s 2019 Contenders Draft Picks Basketball. His first officially licensed NBA trading cards and autographs will release in October with the arrival of the 2019-20 NBA Hoops Basketball.
During his only season at Duke, Barrett earned First Team All-American and First Team All-ACC honors and took home the Jerry West Award given annually to the nation’s top shooting guard. He averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game during the 2018-19 season.
Barrett was born in Toronto and grew up in France. His agents at BDA Sports Management are hoping Panini can make Barrett an international star who appeals to both hard-core and casual basketball fans.
“I want to be a player fans can connect with and follow throughout my career,” Barrett said.
Former NHL great Marcel Dionne has been added to the National Sports Collectors Convention VIP autograph lineup.
Dionne, who runs a sports card shop in Canada, will sign autographs on Wednesday, July 31 at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL.
Also happening at the National on Thursday…a one-hour Q&A session with Gary Vaynerchuk who will also have a booth at the show.
There’s a cool exhibit on Moe Berg open in the Detroit area.
The memorabilia comes from a long-time collector who is passionate about Berg.
Bob Matthews talked with The Jewish News about the catcher/spy and the exhibit at the Bloomfield Community Center.
