President Bush visited the Cincinnati Reds on opening day last season. Players and coaches all received an autographed baseball from the former Texas Rangers owner. Apparently not all were impressed.
From the Dayton Daily News, reporting from Cincinnati Reds’ training camp:
Catcher Javier Valentin saw Adam Dunn lift an autographed baseball out of a box. The ball had been signed by President George W. Bush when he threw out the first pitch on Opening Day last season in Great American Ball Park.
"We all got one of those," said Valentin. "I gave it to my kids to play with. What does George Bush mean to me? Nothing, other than he takes all my money."
