While collectors are getting excited about Zion Williamson’s regular season debut next week, some other members of the NBA draft class shouldn’t be ignored.
Yes, it’s just pre-season but sharpshooter Tyler Herro scored the first 14 Miami points in a game this week. Number 2 pick Ja Morant is among the top five in pre-season assists. R. J. Barrett of the Knicks is averaging 16 points per game. Coby White of the Bulls had 24 points and eight rebounds against the Pacers last week and has been seeing a lot of minutes. Even #28 pick Jordan Poole has put up good numbers.
On the other side of the coin, if you invested heavily in certain NFL quarterbacks over the past few years, you’re probably a little nervous. Andrew Luck had a nice, but injury-plagued run but then retired. Now, a few other high picks are not exactly looking like Hall of Fame talents. Jameis Winston was an interception machine Sunday; Marcus Mariota has struggled in Tennessee lately and Baker Mayfield continues his up and down ride.
Mitchell Trubisky? Josh Rosen? Paxton Lynch? Yikes. Prospecting the quarterback position–even first rounders– is risky business.
