You might remember the story of the St. Louis dentist who kept his valuable collection of Cardinals memorabilia in an old house that had been turned into offices. The building was all but destroyed by a fire in January and Dr. Wayne Fisher lost a lot. Vintage autographs, game worn jerseys, World Series rings and a lot more.
A salvage company hired to tear the place down did manage to locate a few things buried under the rubble that might be salvageable but as in life, the mediocre stuff was OK. It’s the good stuff that’s burned to a crisp. Still, it was a ray of hope in a nightmare for the good doctor. Check out the story from KTVI-TV:

Upper Deck managed to corral Ernie Els to sign cards for its 2012 SP Authentic Golf. To try and lure mainstream collectors to the product, Upper Deck will also be including signed and unsigned cards in a “Parade of Champions” subset. They’ll be athletes from other sports who are known to hit the links from time to time.
Drew Brees and Wayne Gretzky will be among those to sign.
