Newly discovered Babe Ruth and Michael Jordan cards are among the headliners as Hunt Auctions opens it October Premier Live Auction.
As we reported last month, the auction includes a 1917 Collins-McCarthy Babe Ruth card that was recently found within the “Memory Book” kept by a young girl from Glenwood, Iowa. The book was assembled in the period and the Ruth card, was carefully preserved inside.
The modern era sports card market remains amazingly robust, and the October auction will showcase a fresh to the market copy of Michael Jordan’s 1984-85 Star Company rookie card graded Mint 9 by Beckett. Only three have been graded higher by BGS and the card is expected to sell for $75,000-$150,000.
Also included within the auction will be the fifth installment of the “Texan Collection” of vintage sports cards. Curated over a 40-year period, the collection is one of the finest assembled of its type with the initial offerings establishing record pricing for several card issues. Part V of the “Texan Collection” includes a 1911 Turkish Trophies advertising display with Ty Cobb L1 Leather (Est. $50,000-$75,000).
