Bob Woods, who helped create Topps magazine more than a decade ago has teamed up with the company again to produce a new book. Yankee Greats features front and back images of 100 classic Yankees baseball cards spanning the last 60 years.
From The Topps Company’s first baseball card set, the quirky 1951 Red and Blue back cards, to their latest series, millions of fans have been able to celebrate the game and players through the familiar photos-on-cardboard format. Now, for the first time, the Yankees and Topps have joined together to offer fans a unique package that provides a fresh link between America’s pastime and one of the sport’s most beloved teams.
Yankee Greats is packaged with four classic cards, now presented in the new 2012 Topps baseball star design. The players featured are Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Reggie Jackson, and Paul O’Neill, and the new cards are exclusive to the book.
Woods is a freelance writer who grew up in upstate New York during the 1950s and ’60s, loving the Yankees and collecting Topps baseball cards. His affection for the Yanks only increased when he moved to New York after college and later intersected with his career after he teamed up with Topps to create Topps Magazine.
Yankee Greats has a $19.99 cover price but is cheaper on Amazon.com. Click here to check it out.
