A Rhode Island sports card dealer is hoping to recover a valuable card stolen from his table at the recent Philly Show.
Paul Borges, who owns PB Collectibles, a small shop located in Newport, RI, told SC Daily it happened last Saturday.
He believes it may have been an orchestrated move by more than one person.
“I feel as though I was set up,” he said.
Borges says he was looking at a collection around 11 AM when he believes someone quickly opened a display case and grabbed a 1933 Goudey Babe Ruth #149 graded 4 by PSA.
He’s hoping the front and back pictures of the card he has may help lead to its recovery if someone attempts to sell the card or cracks it out of the holder and tries to have it re-graded.
The card’s certification has been deactivated in PSA’s database.
Recent sales of the card have been in the $15,000-$20,000 range.
