Whether you prefer Mickey Cochrane or Mickey Mantle; Carl Mays or Willie Mays, the new online catalog from Brockelman Auctions should have you covered. The auction includes over 540 lots dating from the 1860s to the current era, most with minimum bids ranging from $10 to $50.
Among the highlights: several vintage Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig cards, a 1930s Yankees team signed ball with Gehrig and a couple of unique signed baseballs with other baseball icons.
Trading cards make up the bulk of the catalog, starting with the breakup of a set of W517 cards including both Ruth cards and Gehrig as well as several other Hall of Famers.
Other pre-War highlights include a Harrington’s Ice Cream Gehrig, groups of T207 and T3 as well as other tobacco cards, a W600 Tommy Leach, a 1922 Exhibit Moses Yellowhorse and several lots of baseball and non-sport Dixie Lid sets, near sets and singles.
Post-War offerings include a collection of 1953 Topps Baseball Hall of Famers including Mantle, Jackie Robinson, Mays and Satchel Paige; 1950’s thru 1980’s partial sets or group lots of nearly every year and each sport, topped off by a 1968 Topps complete set.
Collectors who prefer some unique autographs will see a decades-old Texas League baseball signed by Ty Cobb, Dizzy Dean, and faint autographs of Cochrane, Travis Jackson, Charlie Gehringer and Duffy Lewis. All were in attendance at the April 11, 1950 Dallas Eagles home opener against Tulsa. There’s also a ball with Pacific Coast League stars including Joe and Vince DiMaggio.
The no-reserve auction carries a 15 percent buyer’s premium but no sales tax (except for Texas residents). Bidding runs thru Saturday March 12 on the Brockelman Auctions website.
