Collectors who bid in sports memorabilia catalog auctions and use Apple products can now access a free app that helps them see everything in one place.
Co-founded by long-time collector David Yoken, the free Collectable app for iPhone and iPad provides users the ability to view, search, and track auctions from 22 different companies from their phone or tablet. Users can view up-to-the-minute prices, track and even share items of interest with others.
“Collectors can’t bid through the app currently, though we are looking into ways to make that work,” Yoken told Sports Collectors Daily. “At the moment, every item in the app has a ‘to the Auction’ button that brings the user to the item page on the auction house’s website via an in-app browser, so the user can still log in and bid indirectly through Collectable.”
Another feature provides collectors with the opportunity to submit their wishlist items to the app, which will show them if those items are currently available on the market. The app will also automatically notify the user when these items become available in the future.
“Our company is focused on developing software to help empower collectors in a fragmented market,” Yoken stated. “There are currently close to 80 auction houses that sell sports memorabilia, and as collectors ourselves, we found it nearly impossible to navigate all of this activity, especially without missing something. Our app fixed this problem for collectors.
“We have an opportunity to make the market more accessible for collectors everywhere, and we think this software can be a game changer for the industry.”
The Collectable app has been in development for 18 months. Yoken, who serves as CEO, says he’s hoping to bring more auction companies on board in 2016.
While only available on iPhones and iPads at present, Yoken says the company’s development roadmap includes bringing the Collectable software to the web and to Android users sometime in 2016.
The app is available now on Apple’s App Store. Look for Collectable – Sports Collector Auction Search & Discovery Marketplace.
