Panini’s 2022-23 NBA Hoops product hits the shelves just as the NBA season hits its full stride.
With a release scheduled for the week of Jan. 11, this year’s Hoops product remains the introduction to this season’s rookie class along with a large base set. Those first-year players will be shown wearing their NBA uniforms, which is always a plus.
A hobby box will contain 24 packs, with eight cards per pack. Panini is promising one autograph card and 24 inserts or parallels in an average hobby box.
While Panini has yet to announce the size of this year’s base set, there were 270 in the past two years, broken down by 250 “regular” base cards and 20 Hoops Tribute cards.
The base set and parallels are the lures for NBA Hoops. Parallels are hobby exclusives and can be found in Silver (numbered to 199), Green (99), Gravity (75), Artist Proof (25), Artist Proof Gold (10) and Artist Proof Black (1/1).
Like the parallels, inserts are also exclusive to hobby boxes. The designs and colors are striking and creative and certainly will catch the eyes of collectors.
The inserts will include more hobby exclusives, like Highlights, HIPnotized, Hoops Throwback, Jam-tastic and Spark Plugs. Hoops Throwback is not flashy but does have a retro look.
Autograph cards will be shared between veteran and rookie players. The established players can be found in Hoops Ink and Hot Signatures.
Meanwhile, first-year players will be available in Hot Signatures Rookies and Rookie Ink. Each of these subsets have Red parallels numbered to 25 and are hobby exclusives.
