It might be one of the most prolific game-worn jerseys ever sold.
NBA Auctions is offering a shirt donned by 2020-21 MVP Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, one he donned during a stretch in which he recorded five triple-doubles.
Unlike a lot of jerseys these days, the Statement Edition model got plenty of use. Jokic wore the jersey in 13 regular season games between January and April of this year and once again in Game 1 of the Nuggets’ opening round playoff series against the Portland Trailblazers.
There might be room for two inside the blue shirt bearing Jokic’s number 15. It’s a size 58 with six inches extra length. Like all jerseys sold via NBA Auctions, it’s registered into the NBA/ MeiGray Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program.
“The Joker” put up some remarkable numbers while wearing the jersey. In addition to his five Triple Doubles (1/14/21, 2/14/21, 3/2/21, 3/23/21, 5/14/21), he also had six Double-Doubles while wearing it (1/7/21, 1/22/21, 2/8/21, 2/12/21, 3/19/21, 4/24/21).
Jokic had 16 triple-doubles in all this season and has recorded 57 in his career.
He’s the first player from Serbia to be selected as the NBA MVP and joins Dirk Nowitzki (Germany) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (Greece) as MVP winners from Europe.
A second-round pick selected 41st overall by Denver in the 2014 NBA Draft, Jokic was the lowest-drafted player to be named MVP with the exception of three-time MVP Moses Malone, who was not selected in the NBA Draft. The previous lowest-drafted players to win the award were two-time MVPs Antetokounmpo and Steve Nash, both selected with the 15th overall pick in their respective drafts.
In his sixth NBA season, Jokić played all 72 games and averaged a career-high 26.4 points, 10.9 rebounds, a career-high 8.4 assists and 1.32 steals in 34.8 minutes.
His season ended when the Nuggets were swept by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the playoffs.
The jersey is one of a new group of game-worn gear up for grabs through July 1 on the NBA Auctions website.
