A three-day sports collectible event scheduled to take place in Las Vegas this winter includes a card show but the primary focus is a series of speakers who will discuss the hobby as an investment vehicle.
The MINT Collective will take place January 28-30, 2022 in Las Vegas at a UFC-owned facility as well as the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino.
IMG, the long-time sports, event and talent agency and Collectable are partnering to produce the convention, which will include a speaker series, a marketplace for modern and vintage cards and memorabilia, live auctions, product drops, sports gaming exhibitions and entertainment. Among the speakers are StockX Co-Founder Josh Luber and UFC President Dana White.
Speech topics will include the difference between collections and portfolios, NFTs and the emergence of modern collecting, social media and modern investment strategy, navigating online marketplaces, the evolution of the modern collectibles auction, the future of authentication and grading as well as venture capital and private equity for collectibles.
“The sports memorabilia and collectibles market is booming and we’re excited to announce The MINT Collective, which aims to provide forward-thinking new experiences, insights and opportunities for collectors, professionals and investors to help drive this growth,” stated Blake Ulrich, VP of Business Operations for Events at IMG.
“Collectable is incredibly bullish on the growth potential of sports collectibles, as barriers to entry continue to be removed,” remarked Collectable CEO Ezra Levine in a news release. “The Mint Collective seeks to support the industry’s continued evolution by delivering a unified, cutting edge experience focused on thought leadership, community, and continued education and engagement.”
IMG and Collectable have created a website for the event that promises to offer more information for potential vendors and attendees “in the coming days.”
