Bidding won’t open until next week, but Mile High Card Company has pulled back the curtain just enough for a glimpse at its Summer Auction.
Set to run from July 18-August 6, the auction will feature several of the top ranked vintage sets on PSA’s Registry that will be broken up and sold to the highest aggregate bid meaning that they will either sell as singles or as full sets, depending which sale price is greater.
Leading off are the second current finest sets of 1934-36 Diamond Stars as well as the number two ranked 1965 and 1975 Topps Baseball sets.
The sale will also include the fourth highest 1955 Topps All-American Football set with an 8.92 GPA and a 1962-63 Parkhurst Hockey set that ranks third With A 9.70 GPA.
Other complete sets will be sold as is including the 28th best 1955 Topps Baseball set (7.47 GPA) and a near set of T206 cards (517/520) that’s fully graded with a GPA of 4.86. The set is complete except for the “Big Four”: Honus Wagner, Eddie Plank, Sherry Magee and the “NY Nat’l” Doyle error.
The auction also includes numerous high grade and rare vintage single cards including a pair of highly sought after icons: a 1915 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson PSA 8 and a 1916 M101-4 Sporting News Babe Ruth Blank Back rookie card graded PSA 3.
Collectors will also find a 1909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel Ty Cobb PSA 7, a T206 Sweet Caporal Ty Cobb Bat On Shoulder SGC 6, a T206 Walter Johnson Portrait El Principe De Gales Back PSA 6 and a Cobb Portrait Red El Principe De Gales Back SGC 5.
Another high end cards include a 1910 E98 Set Of 30 Cobb SGC 9.5, a 1914 Cracker Jack Joe Jackson SGC 4, a 1915 Cracker Jack Honus Wagner PSA 8 NM-MT, a scarce 1916 M101-4 Gimbles Joe Jackson PSA 4.5, an SGC 6 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card, a 1951 Bowman #305 Willie Mays SGC 8.5 and a 1953 Topps Mantle PSA 7.
Basketball, football and hockey cards on the block include a 1957-58 ToppsBill Russell rookie card SGC 7.5 NM+, as well as a 2003 Topps Chrome Black Refractor Lebron James 154/500 PSA 9, a 1950 Bowman Otto Graham PSA 9, an SGC 10 1976 Topps Walter Payton rookie, a 1972 Topps #195 Julius Erving PSA 9 and a 1979 O-Pee-Chee #18 Wayne Gretzky rookie card graded PSA 8.
The nearly 2600-lot auction isn’t just cards though. Memorabilia collectors will find two Ted Williams jerseys: a road model from the 1955 season and an autographed 1940s Navy jersey. There are also two signed Williams letters in the auction.
Game-used material includes a jersey and pants worn by Brooklyn Dodgers manager Leo Durocher in 1946, a Sandy Koufax Dodgers game-used cap from the Dick Dobbins Collection, a circa 1910 Frank Chance Spalding bat, a 1937 era Rogers Hornsby bat and a 1979 Julius Erving Philadelphia 76ers jersey.
Other memorabilia includes a Babe Ruth signed ticket from August of 1926 when he belted his 346th career home run and a circa 1908 Reach baseball advertising sign.

Many of the auction items can be seen at the Mile High Card Company booths (741/840) at The National Sports Collectors Convention in Atlantic City, NJ July 27-31. They’ll also be taking consignments for upcoming auction events.
