Some big time pieces of history are on display at the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards.
Baltimore will host next year’s National Sports Collectors Convention and a new exhibit may whet the appetite of the locals.
The Sports Museum at Camden Yards, just steps from the Orioles’ home ballpark, has opened an impressive display of artifacts.
"Treasures in the Attic" includes authentic items from athletes who have Maryland ties. The items are being displayed for the first time, and join the rest of the museum’s collection which includes historic items from the Colts (including game-worn memorabilia) and Orioles.
Baltimore’s WBAL, the NBC affiliate, got a peek:
“These items represent precious objects of Maryland’s significant sports heritage and this unique exhibit will allow fans a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the incredible story illustrated by each artifact,” stated Mike Gibbons, the Museum’s executive director.
Throughout the run of the exhibit, the Museum will present a series of educational programs with guest speakers that will include some of the featured athletes and/or their family members.
The items will be on display all year, and the Museum is a partner of the Babe Ruth Museum, allowing collectors in town for this summer’s NSCC to see some special items away from the show site.
