Several jerseys and caps worn by Miami Marlins manager Don Mattingly this past season are among the items up for bid in the 4th annual Find a Way online auction event, running through January 10.
The auction, conducted through the HandBid app and online, is to raise money for youth sports, education and social development programs in Mattingly’s hometown of Evansville, IN.
Conducted through Mattingly Charities, the auction is part of a fundraiser set for January 10 that includes an evening program featuring Mattingly, MLB Network analyst Harold Reynolds and comedian/talk show host Joe Piscopo.
The auction features game-worn autographed jerseys and caps donned by Donnie Baseball this past season including the special edition shirts worn on Memorial Day, the 4th of July, the Marlins’ 25th anniversary, Player’s Weekend, Jackie Robinson Day and the Japan Series.
Also part of the auction are a bat and jersey signed by Derek Jeter, numerous autographed baseballs including those from Bryce Harper, Kris Bryant, Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Rhys Hoskins, Max Scherzer, Mookie betts, Anthony Rizzo, Hideki Matsui and Stephen Strasburg.
There are also non-memorabilia items including a meet-and-greet with Mattingly at a Marlins game next season, a “Yankee Stadium Experience” package, a round of golf with former basketball great Walter McCarty, also a native of Evansville and new coach of the University of Evansville basketball team, and various other items.
