An Iowa-based sports memorabilia company has signed exclusive autograph contracts with NFL running backs Melvin Gordon and Ty Montgomery.
Superstars of the Game, based in Dubuque, will offer various products featuring the two players, adding newly created player-specific holograms for both players to each item.
Gordon’s first private signing with the company will take place in two weeks with public sessions scheduled in Los Angeles during the Chargers’ October bye week and in Madison, WI after the season.
Gordon was chosen by the Chargers in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft after an outstanding career at Wisconsin where he once rushed for over 400 yards in a game and also became the second all-time single season rusher in FBS history with 2,587 yards, just 41 yards short of the Barry Sanders record of 2,628 yards.
“This is a very big deal for us,” said Mike Sauerbry, founder of Superstars Of The Game. “We know that our customers are going to be thrilled with this collaboration as well. Melvin is an exceptional talent with a huge fan base in California, Wisconsin and beyond.”
“I’m excited to be part of the Superstars Of The Game roster,” Gordon said. “As an athlete, you can’t always meet all of your fans. This is a great way for us to put something out there that will let the fans connect with me.”
Montgomery, who became the Packers featured back after switching from wide receiver in mid-season, will also be part of an ongoing series of pay-per-signature events slated to take place the day before seven Green Bay home games. Superstars of the Game’s sister company, Packer Connection, will host the events at Green Bay Distillery, across from Lambeau Field with two players signing each time.
His autographed memorabilia will be available solely on the Packer Connection and parent company Superstars Of The Game websites.
There’s no word on pricing for Gordon and Montgomery items as of yet.
The deals have no impact on the players signing for Panini’s trading card products.
