With virtually the entire contents of Shea Stadium and a lot of sweaty jerseys sharing space, the MeiGray Group’s New Jersey warehouse is a pretty interesting place.
The cyber hammer fell on more Shea Stadium memorabilia last Friday with outfield panels selling for $1000-2000 each, a mounted photo of Casey Stengel from inside the ballpark bringing $2200 and the letter "S" from the "Shea Stadium" lettering outside the old park finding a home at $2500.
All of that stuff–and thousands of other items–sit inside a warehouse awaiting sale or shipment.
It’s the domain of the MeiGray Group, hired to sell off Shea’s contents earlier this year. Game-worn jersey collectors know that isn’t all MeiGray has been up to, though.
Barry Meisel gave a local newspaper a tour of the warehouse where we get a look at some of the stuff inside. He also talked about how the company got started.
