Fans of UNO will be able to show their true colors on the gridiron against opponents. That’s because a new variation of the popular game is on the way and it includes fully licensed football cards of current NFL players that are part of the game.
Mattel, the maker of UNO, has issued a premium deck of cards with six players from each of the NFL’s 32 teams for a 192-card set.
The licensing deal between Mattel, the National Football League and the NFL Players Association means that the packs will be available sometime this fall.
A UNO Elite NFL Starter Pack sells for $14.99 at Walmart, while UNO Elite Draft Packs will retail for $4.99.
The Elite NFL starter pack will feature three different kinds of cards. That includes 112 cards that play like the regular UNO game, and 56 player cards that will feature NFL stars with one or more game action to create a team roster. Four foil cards with premium actions round out the pack.
The Elite NFL Draft packs will include an assortment of 56 player cards and four foil cards.
According to a news release, UNO Elite NFL “takes everything about the world’s No. 1 traditional game and combines it with the excitement of the NFL.”
“This game provides a premium and innovative way to collect and play with your favorite NFL players,” the release stated.
“Our latest extension of UNO Elite, UNO Elite NFL, is a premium innovation for both fans of UNO and the NFL,” Ray Adler, the vice president and global head of games for Mattel, said in a statement. “UNO fans can now show off their favorite NFL player cards, get competitive with friends and continue to expand their collections with premium foil cards. And each year we’ll be bringing fans new NFL player cards and new themes to deliver fresh gameplay and more collectability.”
The players in the UNO Elite NFL game will be featured as part of the team they played on during the 2023 season Mattel said that every year, the game will add new player cards. Decks may be updated to reflect players who have retired. Rookies and MVPs will be added to “deliver fresh gameplay and more collectability.”
Mattel is also issuing special team-specific Fandom decks of 112 cards for all 32 teams that it’s selling on its website for $12.
They carry a slightly different design than the Elite game cards.
