Boxing was Hank Kaplan’s life.
Well known in the sport as a promoter, consultant and writer–among other things–Kaplan was close friends with Muhammad Ali and followed the sport religiously.
He was boxing’s unofficial librarian and now his huge collection of memorabilia, photos and newspaper clippings has a new home.
Brooklyn College was the recipient after Kaplan’s death and the collection–much of it still housed in Kaplan’s original boxes–is available to use or view.
Hundreds of thousands of items are there, safe and sound, after a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The Wall Street Journal offers a few pictures and the history of Hank and his hobby.
