It’ll be a busy summer of signing for Mariano Rivera. MLB’s all-time saves leader was announced Wednesday as one of the autograph guests for the 2019 National Sports Collectors Convention in Chicago. He’ll sign on Saturday, August 3 at the TRISTAR autograph pavilion inside the Stephens Convention Center in Chicago.
There’s no word yet on pricing as tickets won’t go on sale until May 31 but you can get a pretty good idea based on other signings and online pricing.
Rivera will also sign autographs in Cooperstown the Monday before his Hall of Fame induction this summer.
Rivera will appear from 12:30 to 3:30 Monday, July 22 at Cooperstown Connection. For those attending, autograph tickets start at $499.99. Add $50 for mail order. Those prices are in line with what Rivera’s autographs cost through his deal with Steiner Sports.
The five-time World Series champ who set the record for career saves with 652, is the first player unanimously elected to the Hall. He’ll be part of the 2019 class that will be inducted July 28.
A local barbershop is sponsoring the Rivera signing.
“It is an incredible honor to work with Cooperstown Connection in bringing the greatest closer of all time to Central New York”, said Gentlemen’s Corner Barber Shop owner Paul Diamond in a statement. “Mariano Rivera is far-and-away the highest profile athlete we have been able to bring to the area so far; this is a big win for Central New York. Everyone who attends will walk away with very valuable autographed items and memories that can never be forgotten. We believe very strongly that CNY deserves to have high-caliber athletes and celebrities make appearances here and we look forward to hosting similar events in the area in the future.”
