A find of 19th century baseball cards in a Long Island estate has hit the auction block.
Weiss Auctions is selling the collection of 37 cards, which were recently uncovered on the North Fork of Long Island. The bulk of the find consists of 1888 N173 Old Judge cabinet cards with three 1888 Joseph Hall Team Cabinet cards also represented.
The Old Judge cards include the scarce Buck Ewing and “Mascot” Willie Breslin, Buck Ewing Capt. in Civilian Clothes, Connie Mack as a player, 19th century home run king Roger Connor, Hall of Famers Mickey Welch, Old Hoss Radbourn, Tim Keefe and others.
The Joseph Hall cards include Brooklyn, Louisville and New York.
Philip Weiss, the auction company president says the cards should bring a price somewhere the low six figures.
Bidding will run through March 28. You can see the entire collection here and watch a segment and extended interview on News 12 Long Island here.
