Someone just bought a very nice, but very large monogram for the front of the house.
When the original Yankee Stadium was renovated, the demolition company saved..and sold..the 18 big copper letters that spelled out the name on the front of the place. But stadium salvage was apparently not yet an art in 1973.
A very cool, but slightly damaged "M" from the operation was sold on eBay Sunday night, with the 22 bidders pushing the selling price to $5350 for Florida-based "Snappy Auctions" .
Someone had the "S" up for sale last year with no takers at $3549 (we thought about buying it to adorn the world headquarters of SportsCollectorsDaily.com but were rebuffed by an extremely powerful decision-maker).
