There will be a sports memorabilia show in East Brunswick, New Jersey this weekend but it won’t be like your normal gathering of collectors. The show is at Harvey Wildstein’s house and every item for sale is from Harvey’s collection.
This Saturday and Sunday, he’ll swap stories and tell collectors who stop by how he acquired some of the hundreds of pieces that are in the collection of Yankee memorabilia he started years ago. He has DiMaggio and Mantle autographs. He has game worn jerseys. Programs. You name it, chances are Harvey has it–or something like it.
He entered the hobby because after a gambling habit got to be a little nerve-wracking, he wanted something a little more rewarding. It turned out to be a smart decision even if his early ideas of showcasing some of it in the family room didn’t sit well with his wife.
She, too, is a Yankee fan, though and come to find out, that’s how they met.
