Danny Brown was just a fellow college student when he started photographing Pete Maravich at LSU.
Pete Maravich may have become a superstar when he got to the NBA in the early 1970s. But real fans know the Pistol was at his dazzling best as a college player.
From his shaggy hair to his floppy socks, Maravich was an idol to kids who watched his wizardry during the rare occasions when the LSU Tigers were on national television.
Few people saw more of his games in person than Danny Brown. A fellow student at the time, Brown took dozens of photographs of Pistol Pete during his prime, quietly storing them for years–even after Maravich’s sudden death in 1988.
Recently, though, he turned them into a book–one that’s already proven to be a hit.
