He may be shelved until next year because of a knee injury but that isn’t stopping Taiwanese basketball fans from gobbling up the first batch of Jeremy Lin autographed basketballs.
Focus Taiwan reported Wednesday that the first batch arrived there and went on sale the same day.
The official Spalding balls, arranged through a private signing with Steiner Sports, are priced at $457 U.S. The retail site Pay Easy, which is where the balls are being sold, indicated that 5,700 fans in Taiwan had signed up to purchase the 300 limited edition balls.
Steiner Sports announced the deal last month, but Lin hadn’t been able to sit down for the signing session until a week ago because of his busy schedule and the surgery he had on his knee earlier this month.
The Jeremy Lin Foundation, which is dedicated to helping underprivileged individuals and communities, will benefit from sales of the first batch of balls.
Each autographed basketball is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity bearing a laser sticker and a numerical code, according to PayEasy.
