Topps is holding another Hobby Rip Night event at shops this coming weekend. It’s the third such promotion since 2023. The company says it will give away 100,000 packs of cards.
Earlier this year, Tom Brady and other current and former players visited a few shops in conjunction with the event, which receives promotional backing from Fanatics/Topps. Free exclusive card packs, box and case ripping parties, trade nights and giveaways are usually part of the festivities, but the hours of the promotion and what happens can vary from store to store. Some hold it during store hours while others expand hours to hold it in the evening.
VSM Sports Card Outlet in Lancaster, will conduct theirs from 6 PM to 10 PM that evening and is bringing in 1980 Phillies World Series champion Greg Gross to the shop to talk baseball, take photos and open packs. They’re also discounting some merchandise, conducting giveaways and are also raising money for the Darren Daulton Brain Cancer Foundation through the sale of Rip Night t-shirts.
“It’s always a fun time as both kids and adults have an absolute blast,” shop owner Chuck Whisman told us. “We make sure no kid goes home empty handed. We also look forward to raising money for the Darren Daulton Foundation, as Dutch was a great person off the field and a great leader on the field – his wife Amanda and former teammates, coaches, and friends continue to grow the Darren Daulton Foundation in his memory – helping more people than ever this year.”
