Not many men on those 1930s baseball card issues are still around. Bill Werber is not only still here–he has plenty of memories to share.
Bill Werber was born during the same decade Orville and Wilbur Wright invented the airplane.
A college man in a still rough and tumble game, he landed with the Yankees as a young player. A long career followed, including stops in places like Boston and Cincinnati.
But he’s also the last living teammate of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. He’s part of an upcoming Yankee Stadium history special and WNBC-TV offers a sneak peek with a story and video interview clip.
