The top name in this year’s NFL Draft has a new autograph deal. Panini has reached agreement with former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray to appear in its products beginning later this month.
Murray’s first officially licensed trading cards and autographs will arrive later this month in 2019 Prizm Draft Picks Football. His first officially licensed NFL trading cards will release in April inside 2019 Score Football. He’ll also have autographs inside 2019 Contenders Draft Picks.
“Kyler is one of the most dynamic playmakers to enter the NFL Draft and he has raised the level of excitement for this entire draft class since declaring,” said Panini America CEO Mark Warsop. “Because of his spectacular college accomplishments and his extraordinary potential in the NFL, Murray will be a driving force in the success of our products not just during his 2019 rookie season but in the many years to come as well.”
Murray will appear on product packaging and help Panini by lending himself to the company’s marketing efforts.
Murray says he’s “looking forward to having some fun” with his NFL trading cards.
A two-sport star, Murray was taken by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of last year’s MLB draft and will forfeit $1.29 million of the $1.5 million signing bonus he received from the A’s. He won the Heisman Trophy at Oklahoma last season, throwing for 4,361 yards and 42 touchdowns while rushing for 4,001 yards and 12 TDs.
“I was raised to play QB, and I very much look forward to dedicating 100% of myself to being the best QB possible and winning NFL championships,” Murray said last month.
If Murray goes in the first round of next month’s NFL draft as expected, he’ll become the first athlete to be selected in the first round of both the MLB and NFL drafts.
Murray will also have autographs inside Leaf’s upcoming products.
