Sandy Koufax plays a little golf, signs a few autographs.
It might be hard to believe, but Sandy Koufax was once a broadcaster.
Since leaving the NBC booth in the 1970s, Koufax has made relatively few public appearances. He was once a regular at Dodgers training camp where lucky collectors and fans could sometimes snare an autograph from one of the greatest pitchers of all-time.
However, as time has gone on he’s become hard to spot. You won’t find him at card shows, although he does have deals for private signings and you can spot authentic Koufax autographs online at places like Amazon.com.
He’s been retired for 43 years now, but a Koufax sighting brings out fans and collectors.
Koufax showed up to play in the pro-am portion of the Traveller’s Championship in Connecticut this week, still the center of attention for many autograph hounds.
