The uniform and shoes worn by Kobe Bryant in the last road game of his career and other memorabilia from the late Hall of Famer’s 20-year run with the Los Angeles Lakers is arriving on the auction block Wednesday.
The purple jersey and matching trunks from an April 11, 2016 game in Oklahoma City—just two nights before his 60-point “Mamba Out” final game at Staples Center. The lot is the headliner in SCP Auctions’ Fall Premier, which is set to run through Dec. 2. The lot carries a $500,000+ estimate.
It was the final meeting between Bryant and Thunder stars Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. While Bryant scored 12 points, it was Westbrook who stole the show that night, registering a triple-double by halftime while offering praise to the soon to be retired Bryant after the game.
“It was very special for me,” he said. “Growing up in L.A., a young boy watching the Lakers and watching him kind of take over the town, and to be here now, in the NBA, being a part of his last (road) game is something special to me. It’s a blessing. It’s something I never take for granted.”
The jersey, shorts and shoes have each been conclusively photo-matched by both Resolution Photomatching and Sports Investors Authentication.
The auction also includes other historic Bryant memorabilia including an autographed, gamu-used ball from the night he set the Madison Square Garden single game scoring record with 61 points on Feb. 2, 2009.
A 2000 Lakers championship ring gifted to his father Joe “Jellybean” Bryant and a game worn shooting shirt photomatched to 17 regular season and playoff games during his MVP 2007-08 season are also being offered.
