eBay’s decision to hide bidder IDs on auctions surpassing $200 has some buyers wondering if they might now have to pay more than they should.
Message boards are full of miffed eBay bidders after the company decided to take what it claims are steps aimed at ending bogus second chance offers, phishing and spam. The company’s good intentions have some bidders wondering if that protection might lead to an increase in "shill bidding"….sellers who use secondary IDs or friends to artificially raise bids.
eBay says it’s beefed up it’s anti-shill work in anticipation of those questions but some users just aren’t sure they like the idea.
