Topps has signed Washington Nationals rookie Juan Soto to an autograph deal.
Starting with 2018 Topps Heritage High Number Baseball, set for release on September 14, Soto signed cards will appear in Topps packs. The company says he’ll be included in several other products before the end of the year including Five Star, Triple Threads and Update.
Soto’s first unsigned pack-pulled rookie cards are in 2018 Archives. He also has several Topps NOW rookie cards this season.
Signed at age 16 in 2015 as an international free agent, Soto is already considered one of the top young players in baseball. He made his MLB debut in May, showing a combination of power and plate discipline that’s rare for such a young player. Last week, he walked for the 67th time, the most by a teenager since 1900.
Created during the season of his professional debut, his 2016 Bowman Chrome autographs have been hot sellers online. A BGS 9.5 Red Refractor numbered to 5 sold for $25,000 in June. Orange (# to 25) Refractors have been selling at $5,000-$6,000 range this summer. Standard rookie autographs in the product have typically traded at $250-$400.
